Changing the name legally after the marriage is a bit of tedious task. Just by calling yourself with your husband's name attached next to your name is not enough, and you will need some legal documents supporting that name. When you decide to change your name post marriage, you will need to give an advertisement in the daily newspaper that you will be called so and so henceforth and the said date. It is a very short piece of notice, but it is mandatory if you want to change your name after getting married.
Take the proof that you have advertised and notified people, and change your name in bank accounts or in fiduciary deposits. You will also need to change your name in the passport. A passport is a good place to begin the name change because it will serve as a valid proof of ID wherever you want. Changing your name on your company ID cards is not a big deal, and they should do it on request.
However, name changing after marriage is not a must. It is only convenient to have the same last name as a family unit because your children will carry your husband's name as their last name. You can be addressed as a common unit if your last name is changed and is the same as your husband's.
